Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
