19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He defended four early-game break points in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
